About the Director
Rabbi Julia Andelman joined Park Avenue Synagogue as the Rabbinic Director of Lifelong Learning in August 2009. She received her rabbinical ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary and her B.A. from Harvard. She also studied classical Jewish texts for three years at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Rabbi Andelman is a highly regarded ba'alat tefilah (prayer leader) and collector and teacher of Jewish liturgical music. Her most recent CD is The Bedtime Sh’ma, a compilation of Jewish lullabies. She was also the Artistic Director of Pri Eitz Hadar, an eclectic CD collection of Jewish prayer melodies produced with Kehilat Hadar in Manhattan. In 2008 Rabbi Andelman was named one of "36 Under 36" by The Jewish Week, recognizing innovative young leaders working to reshape the landscape of Jewish life in New York.
